Shalom
thank you for sharing your wisdom
Question
please explain to us the word "judgement" when you say
"But where there is no judgement there can be no kindness"

How is it different from being "judgemental"

Dear MDS,

Thanks for reading and thanks for the feedback. It's great to see that someone's paying attention :) with blogs one never knows...

So, here's how it works: Kindness means the willingness to step out of your world and into mine. The unwillingness or inability to see my faults, or the absence of judgment, may be nothing more than a disinclination to see me as I really am. So there is something lacking in the kindness.

This is why without judgment, it’s not kindness, it’s merely permissiveness.

On the other hand, judgmental means I am perfectly willing to see your faults but I am not willing to tolerate them.

Btw, are you studying Tanya at all? You would enjoy the incredible clarity with which Tanya discusses these issues (although it is best studied with a good teacher.)

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom and happy Channukah.

Rabbi Manis Friedman
